Used as mortar or in its pure form, the quick-setting, waterproofing, and resistance-to-aggressive-environments qualities of PROMPT natural cement make it an effective, simple, fast, and traditional solution for connecting PVC/cast iron or cast iron/cast iron pipes.
Technique
Before preparing the PROMPT natural cement mortar, ensure the support is properly prepared. As cast iron is brittle, carefully clean the collar, having first blocked the opening with cloth. Remove debris and cloth, then create roughness on the PVC. Then, prepare the PROMPT natural cement mortar (PROMPT cement, dry sand, TEMPO setting retarder if needed, water) or the pure paste. Proceed to placement. Position the pipe or the connecting fixture. Use shims if necessary. Fill voids inside the pipes with newspaper or other water-degradable material. Prepare the mixture based on the joint size. Place the mixture, level and smooth it. Wait for fifteen minutes after the end of the setting time before handling or reintroducing water.
