Restoration of the Exterior Façades of Collioure Church
Overview
Collioure Church

History
The Church of Notre Dame de Collioure was built in the 17th century. Listed as a Historical Monument since 1923, its former sacristy has already undergone rehabilitation.
Since 2022, the exterior façades of the church have been under restoration.
Located directly on the Mediterranean coastline, the church is constantly exposed to marine weather conditions. These factors contributed to the gradual deterioration of the façades.
Natural Prompt cement was used on its own for joints in partially submerged areas, and in combination with lime across jointing zones in order to resist marine spray while preserving the historic character of the church.

Implementation
To restore the exterior façades, Prompt natural cement was selected for its rapid setting properties, durability in aggressive environments and aesthetic compatibility with historic stonework.
It was used in two distinct phases of the project:
The first phase involved combining Prompt natural cement with lime. This mix ensured improved durability in marine atmospheres and aggressive environments.
The second phase required the use of pure Prompt natural cement paste. Its rapid setting and long-term resistance made it ideal for repointing the church foundations.
Sustainable Solution
Prompt natural cement was chosen for its:
Resistance to aggressive environments
Durability in marine atmospheres
Compatibility with lime
Ability to set under water
