Permeability to water vapor

Icones - Prompt 2022_permeabilite-vapeur.png

Old buildings (made of stone, earth, etc.) are often composed of massive walls that are in direct contact with the ground without a capillary barrier. Additionally, the materials used in these buildings have a high water absorption capacity.

These specific features of old walls promote the rise of water by capillarity.
For old walls, it is therefore necessary to ensure a continuous permeability of water vapor between the exterior and the interior.

The choice of mortar composition should allow for the proper evacuation of moisture from the wall, ensuring breathability.

PROMPT natural cement, with its unique mineralogical composition and fineness, is the ideal binder for creating mortars that maintain the permeability of ancient walls. When used as an accelerator for lime, it does not compromise the excellent permeability of lime-based mortars.
