Restoration & decoration
Waterproofing of the Rampart Walkway
Overview
Historic Ramparts

Project
Built more than a century ago and classified as Historical Monuments since 1886, the ramparts of Saint-Malo have undergone various restorations, mainly in the 19th century. The city has recently initiated a project to restore a section of the walkway with the objective of protecting and preserving these centuries-old stone structures exposed to aggressive marine conditions.
Restoration

Restoration stages
To rehabilitate the walkway, stone slabs were removed in order to apply waterproofing using PROMPT natural cement. New stone slabs were then installed on a lime/PROMPT mortar screed, and joints were filled using the same mix to enhance durability and resistance to marine exposure.
A Sustainable Solution
PROMPT natural cement was selected for its exceptional properties: waterproofing capability, resistance to seawater exposure, durability in marine environments
Finalized project
A walkway restored to its former glory
