4 areas of intervention, a single cement

Natural Prompt cement covers four major fields of application, each one drawing on its specific properties: rapid setting, resistance in damp environments, compatibility with old materials, and 100% natural origin.

• Rapid masonry: sealing of stakes and street furniture, creation of lintels, jambs and window sills, connection of PVC or cast iron piping, laying of verge tiles, ridges and flashings, laying of cut stones. Its setting in a few minutes allows rapid return to service and reduces site downtime.

• Water and sanitation: repair and waterproofing of basins, washhouses and reservoirs, interventions in sewers and stormwater networks, water inflow stoppage and blockage of water passages, levelling of prefabricated channels, marine works. Natural Prompt cement resists acidic, pure and sulphate waters with a pH above 4. Its compliance with French standard NF P 15-317 for marine works makes it the reference binder for structures exposed to sea water and aggressive environments.

• Restoration and decoration: cast moulding, stone imitation, repair of stones and 19th and 20th century mouldings, reinforcement of old walls, fresh sculptures, sealing of joinery. Its light ochre colour, its compatibility with limes and calcareous substrates, and its low shrinkage make it a commonly chosen material for the restoration of built heritage.

• Eco-construction: insulation in hemp mortar or hemp concrete, biosourced constructions. Natural Prompt cement is manufactured from a single argillaceous limestone rock extracted from the Chartreuse massif, without any addition. It is a suitable response to the requirements of biosourced constructions, where compatibility with vegetal aggregates is essential.

Preparation and application

Mastering the right dosage of Natural Prompt cement is essential to guarantee the quality of the structure. The parameters to be adjusted according to the type of project are the cement/sand proportions, the water quantity and the use of the TEMPO retarder to set the setting time according to the ambient temperature.

Our dosage and advice sheets provide the optimal volumes and ratios for each of the 22 applications, as well as the implementation rules to be respected: never re-mix the mortar after the start of setting, dampen the substrate before application, adapt the dosage to the temperature (application recommended between +5 °C and +30 °C), use clean sand and controlled mixing water.

Frequently asked questions

Prompt cement is preferable as soon as the project requires rapid return to service, work in damp or submerged environments, or compatibility with old materials. For structural reinforced concrete works, a Portland cement remains the indicated choice. The two binders are not interchangeable: they meet different needs.

Yes, it is one of its historical fields of application. It sets and hardens even underwater, resists acidic and sulphate waters with a pH above 4, and complies with French standard NF P 15-317 for marine works. For emergency sealing, it can be applied as a pure paste, without sand.

Yes, it is one of its historical uses since the 19th century. For these projects, the lime/Prompt mix is often preferred, as it combines the short-term strength of Prompt and the breathability qualities of lime.
